About Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes

Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, dedicated to supporting the men and women who serve our communities and our nation. Our mission is centered on honoring service, providing meaningful assistance, and bringing people together to support veterans, first responders, military families, and their loved ones.

We are a volunteer-driven nonprofit built around remembrance, service, community involvement, and helping those who have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving others.

Learn About Us and How We Began

Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes began as a local effort connected to the Wreaths Across America program, helping ensure that fallen service members were remembered and honored through annual wreath-laying ceremonies.

What started with a commitment to remembering veterans soon developed into a much broader mission in 2016.

As community involvement grew, so did the opportunities to serve. Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes expanded its efforts to include fundraising events, assistance programs, scholarships, volunteer opportunities, and partnerships with local businesses and organizations.

Today, our organization works throughout Fredericksburg and surrounding Virginia communities to provide support, raise awareness, and create opportunities for people to come together in honor of those who serve.

Supporting Veterans and First Responders

Our mission extends beyond remembrance.

Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes works to support veterans, first responders, and their families, “Those That Dedicate Their Service” who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. Through fundraising, donations, partnerships, and community support, our organization strives to provide meaningful assistance to those who have spent their lives serving others.

We believe that veterans, firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, active-duty military members, and their families should know that their community appreciates their dedication and stands ready to support them.

Bringing the Community Together

One of the ways Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes raises funds and awareness is through our annual signature events.

The Fallen Heroes 5 Miler brings runners, volunteers, sponsors, first responders, veterans, and families together to honor local fallen heroes while promoting community involvement.

The Annual BBQ Cookoff At The Beach in Colonial Beach combines friendly competition, BBQ tasting, family activities, vendors, sponsors, and community support. The event has continued to grow while providing another important opportunity to raise funds for the organization’s mission.

Our annual Thanksgiving for Heroes initiative also allows us to show appreciation during the holiday season by supporting local sheriff’s offices, fire departments, first responders, and veterans.

Each year, Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes participates in Wreaths Across America Fredericksburg at Oak Hill Cemetery, bringing volunteers, families, veterans, and community members together to place remembrance wreaths on the graves of veterans.

Scholarships for Military and First Responder Families

Our scholarship program provides opportunities for graduating students who are dependents of military members and first responders.

These scholarships help recognize families who understand firsthand the commitment and sacrifice associated with serving our country and our communities.

By investing in education, Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes hopes to honor the legacy of service while helping the next generation move forward toward their own goals and opportunities.
